Since 1997, Erykah Badu has released five studio albums, Baduizm (1997), Mama's Gun (2000), Worldwide Underground (2003), New Amerykah Part One (4th World War) (2008), New Amerykah Part Two (Return of the Ankh) (2010),and one live album, Live (1997). She has toured nine times, starred in fourteen films (nine films as herself), and has appeared in various television shows including Ellen, Yo Gabba Gabba!, The Tavis Smiley Show, and New York Undercover. Badu's musical style is a mix of jazz, hip hop, and R&B. She has won numerous awards including four Grammy awards (nominated for fifteen), two MTV Video Music Awards (nominated for five), two NAACP Image Awards (nominated for four), three Soul Train Music Awards (nominated for two), two BET Awards (nominated for five), and one American Music Award (nominated for one). In addition to writing/performing music and acting Badu has partnered with fashion designer Tom Ford and fashion house Givenchy to promote clothing and other items. In 1997, Badu established a charitable organization called Beautiful Love Incorporated Non Profit Development (B.L.I.N.D. 501c3) in her hometown of Dallas, Texas. The goal of the organization is to bring music, art, and theater to inner city youth in Dallas. In 2003, Badu traveled to Africa on a goodwill mission on behalf of her organization to help children diagnosed with AIDS and others affected by extreme poverty. Badu has plans to release a sixth studio album, but an official release date has not yet been set. She has worked on the album in Africa and the United States. Badu will also be featured in the film, Who Shot the Sheriff? released in 2015.
