Senior Product Manager

BandPage is seeking a Senior Product Manager with exceptional intellect, creativity, and communication skill to play a leadership role in modernizing the music industry. Enable inventive new distribution and revenue models that empower hard working artists to make a living at their craft, thereby enabling them to spend more time creating and performing music rather than working as a Barista, or whatever. Work with passionate collaborators in our soulful SOMA loft space with pumping tunes and home cooked breakfasts and lunches.

The Senior Product Manager will be responsible for understanding the needs of artists, fans, and partners and conceiving and defining new products and features that align with our company’s mission and vision.

Responsibilities

  • Product Design (Top-Down) - Conceptualize and define new products and features. Collaboratively and laterally lead design, development, and go-to-market activities, taking ultimate responsibility for the popularity, utility, and commercial success of your product.

Data Engineer

The backbone. The rock. The drummer.

Contribute your best-in-class programming skills to develop reusable tools for the management and manipulation of very large data sets. Analyze and improve efficiency, scalability, and stability of data collection, storage, and retrieval processes. Optimize our infrastructure at both the software and hardware level. Senior Visual Designer

You’re a talented visual designer — with an up-to-date portfolio to back this up. Your designs are innovative and enable the user to more easily understand the information presented. You live and breathe design. Your weekends are spent taking pictures, listening to new bands and getting inspired.

  • Continually improve and standardize BandPage’s look and feel
  • Create custom BandPages for some of the greatest bands out there
  • Develop and adhere to style guideline principles for our corporate site and for the BandPage product

UI/UX Designer

(or Manager or Creative Director)

BandPage is seeking an experienced user interface designer with exceptional creativity and communication skill to help modernize the music industry. Design web and mobile apps that enable inventive new distribution and revenue models. Empower hard working artists to make a living at their craft, thereby enabling them to spend more time creating and performing music rather than blending frappuccinos at Starbucks (no offense).

The designer will be responsible for designing user experiences (interaction/flow and visual) for new web and mobile products and features, working in close collaboration with passionate product managers and engineers in our stylish SOMA loft space with pumping tunes and home cooked breakfasts and lunches.

Responsibilities

  • Interaction Design - Imagine, communicate, and iteratively improve useful and highly intuitive human-computer interactions, expressing them as wireframes, flow diagrams, information hierarchies, etc. Basic understanding of designing for web and mobile, including limitations and design consequences of HTML/CSS and Javascript.
  • Visual Design - Building upon rough wireframes, produce beautiful, polished, high fidelity graphic designs for BandPage products and features. Utilize layout, color, fonts, and motion to convey affordance, communicate semantics, and transmit information hierarchy, thereby maximizing the usability of the product. Produce original illustrations. Preference for clean, modern, minimal design aesthetic--but with soul and a bit of rebellious edge.
  • Marketing Creative - We are a small company, so our Design team also spends ~10% time supporting the marketing function. For example, you might occasionally be asked to help design our corporate website, produce external videos, design display ads, shoot original photos, etc.
  • User Research - Design and administer user research and usability tests, utilizing a variety of techniques, qualitative and quantitative, structured and ad hoc.

Additional Responsibilities (if Manager/Director)

  • Creative Leadership - Provide exceptional thought leadership in all facets of design (e.g., interaction, visual, etc.). Coach and develop a team of designer, helping them to grow individually and as a team.
  • Management - Operationally supervise a team of designers, prioritizing and managing a queue of design projects. Contribute to the design and continual improvement of an end-to-end product development process. Hire, evaluate, and develop a team of world class designers.

Quality Assurance Manager

About the Position

As Quality Assurance Manager at BandPage, you’ll oversee a small team of QA Engineers and Testers, working to constantly raise the quality bar on an array of technology products, including our public APIs, our website, and forthcoming mobile products. Through your experience with people and task management, tools for authoring, executing, and tracking tests and their results, you’ll increase our testing efficiency and accuracy, and make sure we ship great software, in an agile development environment. We aim to delight our customers, and want you to drive us achieve that goal!

Responsibilities

  • Manage a small team of QA Engineers and QA Testers, assigning work day-to-day, as well as setting long term strategy & goals for the team and its individual members
  • Work with engineering and product leads to assess needs and deliver results
  • Recruit talent to grow the team over time
  • Develop and execute upon manual and automated testing strategies in an agile environment
  • Oversee testing of public APIs, a consumer-facing website, and mobile offerings
  • Establish and enact approaches for QA on our large data corpus, including anomaly detection
  • Document results of testing; communicate these to engineering and other stakeholders
  • Working with the VP of Engineering, choose or build the right tools for all of the above
  • Dive in to do some amount of testing yourself; get your hands dirty in this hands-on role
  • Help to calibrate and then maintain the company’s quality bar: be a voice for excellent user and developer experience with our products, while balancing the need to be aggressive and meet deadlines

Requirements

  • Min. 5 years of professional experience as a QA Lead or QA Manager in startups
  • Prior experience as QA Engineer or QA Tester
  • Comprehensive knowledge of tools and processes used to test websites, APIs, and/or mobile products, including automation of that testing, including hands-on experience with tools such as cucumber, rspec, Selenium, and/or Watir.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and otherwise
  • Highly organized, analytical, detail-oriented, and able to prioritize competing work
  • Bonus points for significant prior programming experience, especially in languages typically used to automate testing

Senior Quality Assurance Engineer

Responsibilities

  • Actively participate in all aspects of the development cycle, including requirements, technical specifications, system level and API level designs, implementation, release, and maintenance
  • Assist in defining and documenting the QA processes and procedures
  • Design test strategy and criteria defining user story acceptance
  • Writing test automation scripts
  • Perform the test execution for assigned stories/features according to acceptance criteria and using own initiative, retaining accountability for software tested
  • Participates in daily team meetings to be aware of ongoing activity and ensure testing coverage
  • Sign-off on the quality of the new builds before releases
  • Immediately log and communicate issues found during testing and the ability to assess the severity of the issue
  • Act as a gatekeeper for software quality, ensuring only highest quality code makes it to production

What you need to be successful in this role

  • A solid background in investigative software quality assurance testing, including the ability to integrate QA into projects from the design and planning phase
  • Full lifecycle QA experience – in this role you will design test cases, execute both manual and automated testing, analyze the results, report and track defects, and ultimately make decisions on test completion
  • Ability to work in an Agile development environment (preferably Scrum)
  • Prior experience working for a web startup
  • A disciplined, deadline driven approach, strong attention to detail, and ability to work in a collaborative team environment
  • Experience testing Web applications written in a multitude of languages such as Java, PHP, JavaScript
